In order to qualify for the nursing assignments, you must first enroll in a training program. Upon successful completion of the program, you will receive a nursing degree. You have to take courses for all the subjects offered in medical nursing. There are two courses available which are offered namely in-services nursing and out-of-services nursing. Both courses are compulsory but you can opt to take only one or the other. If you choose to take only in-services course, you will need to be a registered nurse before you can take it. It might be beneficial for you to go for the diploma course which is usually a two year course.

During the course of medical nursing you will be taught about the administration part as well as the medical part. You must have good communication skills as you will deal with patients directly. Some people might find it difficult to work with patients directly but you must persevere. It will also help if you are a good listener as you will be given different instructions from time to time.

A candidate must complete the entire council certification training, which lasts for a period of four years. This includes teaching, clinical skills and knowledge development. After the training period, a nurse must pass a written final examination. The nurse may need to take a practical exam in order to get an associate degree. There are certain regulations which must be followed by the council nurse during his or her career and all these regulations are quite different from the ones followed by the nurses who graduated many years back.

A council nurse can choose to work in a hospital, clinics or even in a nursing home. In order to work in a hospital, the nurse must be registered with the nursing council. The nurses who are registered nurses can directly apply for nursing jobs. Otherwise they will have to go through a series of selection process which may take many months.
